Chair: Truman McRay
Hi, my name is Truman and I am very excited to be your Chair for North Vietnam JCC. I've been in Model UN since my Freshman year and I'm an incoming senior at Middleton High School. I have a fair amount of experience with Model UN, I've been to conferences in Chicago, NYC, and locally in Madison. This will not be my first time on DIAS and I have a lot of good experience running sims and chairing at Middleton! I am looking forward to what the delegates in the sim do with the position provided. I want to see creativity as well as respectful debate. I know we are going to have a lot of fun and me and the rest of the DAIS are very excited to meet and work with you all!
Chair: Theo Morrison
Hi! I’m Theo Morrison and I am a junior at Madison West High School. I joined MUN because I like public speaking and was intrigued by the idea during our club fair. I stuck around because of the amazing experience of debating policy and negotiating solutions at conferences. It also helped that the officers at the time ran the club exceptionally well. As well as this, my favorite MUN memory is from NUMUN. We were returning from our midnight crisis session and the officers invited me and other delegates to play a social deduction game. The moments playing the game provided many laughs for the group while also providing stress relief from the nuances of the conference!
Sim: Oskar Siemsen, oskar.siemsen@gmail.com
Hello! I'm Oskar Siemsen and I'm very excited to be one of your sims! I'm a senior at Middleton High School(MHS) and have proudly done Model UN for 2 years. I serve as treasurer on the board at MHS. I love Model UN because of its politics. I love knowing the deep problems in society and finding the(usually chaotic) solutions me and my fellow delegates come up with to forge a better world. I chose the Northern Vietnam Joint Crisis Committee because the Vietnam war was one of America's first major losses after WW2. The Vietnam war is embedded into every facet of american culture, be it from songs, policy, entertainment, or even buildings on UW Campus(Humanities building). The Northern Vietnamese went toe-to-toe against a world superpower(though with support) and came out on top, albeit scarred. To be able to simulate that, especially as a joint crisis committee, will be incredibly fun. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, to introduce yourself, or whatnot. Cant wait to see all of you there!
Sim: Daiwik Dhawan
Hi! I’m Daiwik and I am a Senior at Madison Country Day School! I have been in MUN for 4 years and I joined because it both appealed to my love of history unlike any other, and was an excellent opportunity for working on my public speaking skills. It was the catalyst that led me to meeting my friend group and drove me towards serious historical study. My favorite memory in MUN was during SSICSIM 2021, in the 7 years wars crisis committee. Even as a relatively minor character, I was able to affect the committee in a very fun manner, and commit several war crimes. It was during that conference that I realized how incredibly fun MUN could be.
