Chair: Valery Vayserberg, vayserv@mcfsd.org
Hi everyone! My name is Valery and I’m a senior at McFarland High School! This is my fourth year in Model UN and second year staffing MADMUN, this time as your sim. I originally joined MUN as a freshman during Covid in hopes of traveling (yes, ironic). I really wanted to see new places and make new friends - MUN has allowed me to do that as well as grow my public speaking skills, research efficiently, and dive into topics affecting the world in the past and present. I hope to major in economics and history next year, so researching for this committee was super fun! I’m also a first generation American as both my parents and my brother immigrated from the USSR (Moldova)! Outside of Model UN, I have a marketing internship, am in DECA, am involved with our school’s equity work and Connect, and work at Starbucks! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out :)
Chair: Nadia Schwedrsky, schwedn@mcfsd.org
Hello, my name is Nadia and I am a senior at McFarland High School; I am so excited to be staffing MADMUN this year as your chair after attending the conference as a delegate for the last two years. I joined Model UN in my sophomore year as I was looking to become involved in school and had heard great things about MUN from friends and relatives. Additionally, I have a strong interest in international events and relations that drew me to this club. I have learned so many great skills by being involved in MUN in terms of researching and effective communication, as well as I have been able to grow my confidence when it comes to speaking in front of others. Next year, I hope to major in either journalism, foreign affairs, political science or psychology along with Spanish and Model UN, as well as this committee, which has definitely helped to strengthen those interests. Outside of MUN, I am involved in several other clubs including Student Council, Connect, I am president of my school’s Girl Up (a real UN organization!), and I dance competitively. If you have any questions at all just let me know!
Sim: Mary DeSerre, deserrm@mcfsd.org
Hey, my name is Mary and I’m a sophomore at McFarland High School, I am thrilled to be staffing for MADMUN this year! I have always had a passion for history and politics, and MUN put those two together for me. I went to three conferences last year and loved them all. I am the manager for McFarland’s JV1 volleyball team and, of course, I am in MUN. I chose to be a chair for this committee because I didn’t have much prior knowledge about Russia or the Soviet Union. MUN is a place where we get to learn more about the world so I took this opportunity to learn about the Soviet Union by chairing this committee. I am excited to see how this committee plays out! If you have any questions or concerns, don't be afraid to email me!
